ART PAPERS at LUCIAN

Art Papers cordially invites you to join us at LUCIAN Books & Wine on Sunday, March 30th, from 4–6 PM to launch the production of 50 Years of ART PAPERS, a retrospective book celebrating our 50-year legacy.

This elegant and intimate gathering of friends will generate crucial support for the production of our heirloom-quality book. Guests of this event will be individually named, with gratitude, in the book’s masthead, and will receive a personalized inscribed copy.

Tickets will be available beginning Feb 12th

THE EVENT
This early evening event will include selected wines and heavy hors d’oeuvres by LUCIAN, a James Beard Award semifinalist. Attendees will mingle with special guests from ART PAPERS’ editorial past and present and enjoy an exclusive sneak-peek of the book’s contents and design.

What better partner for such an event than LUCIAN Books & Wine, a destination for smart wines, beautiful books and thoughtful food. Southern Living writes that a visit to Lucian “feels as though you’ve been let inside someone’s story.”  We invite you to be a founding supporter of  ART PAPERS’ story.

THE BOOK
50 Years of ART PAPERS will tell the story of 5 decades of independent, artist-centered and often artist-produced art criticism by tracing the work of the longest-running nonprofit art magazine in the US, capturing the unique perspective of this geographically marginalized but culturally central publication as it grew from the Atlanta Art Workers Coalition Newsletter into an internationally distributed, globally engaged publication. Taken together, these selections will also present a rare view of the art world over 50 years, as viewed from a Southeastern US perspective.

The book will include newly-compiled histories and testimonials about the publication’s legacy and impact; selections from the archive introduced by current and past editors, artists, and contributors; a curated selection of artist projects from past issues, the compiled Art Papers Glossary entries; and spotlights on past programs, events, and the people who worked to make ART PAPERS what it is.
